Do People Ever Get On Your Nerves?

Sure they do! Right? Whether it’s a parent, a sibling, your child, someone at work, a friend or neighbor; someone in some form or fashion will manage to get on your nerves.
The thing that offends you will vary from person to person. Maybe it’s something irritating enough to wake you as you lay asleep in the morning. Or maybe someone irks you during a meal. Could be something said while you were watching a movie or TV show that pesters you? It could be a certain sound that annoys you and breaks your concentration throughout a workout routine. Does anyone harass you and never seem to get off your back? At night, are they bothering you with that exasperating thing that keeps you from sleeping?
Alright, you get the point: People can and WILL agitate you! Some intentional, others unintentional. At times it’s trivial things that we easily overlook. Other times we’re vexed to the point of screaming! AAHHHHHH!!!!!!
Sorry.
Here’s the thing: we all have pet peeves. Each one of us have things that we consider a nuisance. Just as well, we also have habits, customs, and personalities that can easily offend others. That’s right, sometimes we’re the problem.
There’s this certain sound that some people make when they either scratch or soothe the inside of their throat that makes them sound like a croaking frog. Have you heard that before? I don’t know if you understand the specific sound that I’m talking about but, if I had the power, I would ban that sound from the country. 😁 No, really! A person would be fined $500.00 for each croak made!
Another one of my pet peeves is about the bathroom! I don’t know if its because I grew up around a lot of females, but I hate using the restrooms behind people that didn’t wipe the toilet seat. I feel like if you’re not gonna wipe the toilet seat, at least have the decency to lift the toilet seat before you use it. My nerves are stretched to the boiling point to find an unbroken, unflushed toilet! A filthy sink bothers me, too.
Leaving the water running at an empty sink and leaving lights on in an empty house gets under my skin! Do you know something else that kills me?! When I’m obviously in the middle of working or completing a project and someone calls me over to them
for something frivolous!
On the other side of the coin, I’m a very frugal person and although that has been a helpful attribute of mine, I’ve been known to irritate the hell out of family members and friends with my frugal ways. Both of my aunts have checked me for telling them what not to buy me because I said it was too expensive.
The way I tend to save stuff can very easily be viewed as hoarding. Okay, so I am a little guilty of that…… sometimes.😁
I keep a handkerchief in my back pocket that I use to keep my nose clean, but some would argue it's really a snot rag! Its been frowned upon plenty of times.
Every morning while I clean my face, I clean my nostrils with water by breathing in water from the cuffed palm of my hands, then releasing it out. This process is part of a daily custom for Muslims known as “Wadu” or ablutions. One time a cellmate and friend of mine asked me, “What were you doing this morning snorting water?” 😁 I could sense that he didn’t like the sound. So even though I kept up the practice, I continued the practice as quietly as possible.
Okay, that’s enough about me; you get the point. 😁 Since we can all be irritating, how do we manage to exist together in peace? I believe that with tolerance, respect, and love, we’ll find ways past some of our fellow man’s hang ups. Other times we’ll have to either curb or stop some of our own annoyances. Patience is mandatory! Sometimes we may have to say, ‘Hey! Would you please stop that?!’ after all, how we treat each other determines the quality of our relationships.
In closing, to my family, friends, as well as those I come in contact with: I apologize for all of my idiosyncrasies. But to all of ya’ll who fits the mold: Stop getting on my ever-loving nerves!!😁
Much Love,
Soul
